Milan is situated in Lombardy and is the
main city in northern Italy. It is one of the most popular,
developed and populated city in Italy. Approximately 1,308,500
people inhabit this land of high fashion and culture. Its
province lies in the western part of Lombardy. The city of
Milan is famed for fashion firms and shops (via Montenapoleone)
and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele on the Piazza Duomo, supposed
to be the world's oldest shopping center. It shares the same
reputation in the fashion industry as that of New York City,
Paris, London and Rome.
Another popular product of the city is the customary Christmas
sweet cake Panettone. Milan is also famous for the Alfa Romeo
motorcar and for its silk production.
